Pakistani Stars Join A Humanitarian Mission
Pakistani Stars Join A Humanitarian Mission

A group of Pakistani actors travelled to Jordan for a five-day humanitarian mission aimed at supporting Palestinians displaced from Gaza.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with SKT Welfare, a UK-registered charity working with communities affected by conflict and displacement.

The delegation included Jawed Shaikh, Saba Hamid, Shagufta Ejaz, Kubra Khan, Gohar Rasheed, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Ally Khan, Nabeel Zafar and Khaled Anam.

The Pakistani delegation helped distribute 500 food parcels directly to Palestinian families in Jordan. Rather than limiting their participation to fundraising or awareness, the actors joined charity workers on the ground to help prepare and deliver the aid.

The group also visited injured Palestinian patients receiving treatment in hospitals and at their homes. Their presence provided an opportunity to offer companionship and emotional support alongside practical assistance.

For Palestinians evacuated to Jordan for medical treatment, humanitarian support extends beyond healthcare. Accommodation, nutritious food and transportation can all play an important role in helping patients continue their recovery and reach essential medical appointments.

SKT Welfare has been providing these services in Jordan while continuing relief operations in Gaza. A similar mission in 2025 distributed food parcels and hygiene kits across Jordanian refugee camps, reaching around 76,000 people.

A Call For Shelter Before Winter
A Call For Shelter Before Winter

Angelina Jolie has renewed calls for urgent humanitarian assistance in Gaza, sharing satellite images that show the scale of destruction across several neighbourhoods. The actress and humanitarian advocate highlighted the growing need for shelter and essential supplies as winter approaches.

Jolie shared before and after images of areas in Rafah, Khan Younis and Gaza City, directing attention to the changes visible through Google Earth. The images show extensive damage to residential areas and essential infrastructure.

According to figures cited by Jolie, around 1.98 million people, or 94% of Gaza’s population, require shelter assistance and essential items as winter approaches. She also highlighted continued delays and restrictions affecting the delivery of aid and shelter materials.

A UN Satellite Centre assessment found that 82% of structures in Gaza had been damaged as of June 16, 2026. The assessment recorded more than 201,000 affected structures, with around two thirds classified as destroyed.

Jolie’s latest appeal continues her long-standing humanitarian work and follows her visit to the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing earlier this year. During that visit, she met humanitarian workers and saw supplies prepared for delivery to Gaza.

Her latest message places particular emphasis on the needs of civilians as colder weather approaches, including shelter, medical supplies and assistance for displaced communities.

She also called for conditions that would allow people to rebuild homes, schools, hospitals and other essential parts of their communities.

When His Wife Needed A Transplant
When His Wife Needed A Transplant

In April 2025, a deeply moving story from Multan brought attention to the extraordinary lengths one husband went to save his wife. Shabbir Ahmad’s wife, Shinza, was reportedly suffering from a serious liver condition and needed a transplant.

Medical assessments identified Shabbir as a suitable donor, giving the couple a possible lifeline. Despite the seriousness of the procedure, Shabbir decided to donate part of his own liver to his wife.

Pakistani reports stated that he donated around 60 percent of his liver, choosing to undergo major surgery so Shinza could receive the transplant she urgently needed.

Shabbir’s decision reportedly came despite concerns from his family. His parents initially feared the risks involved in donating part of his liver and tried to discourage him from undergoing the operation.

According to reports, Shabbir remained determined and even switched off his mobile phone while travelling to the hospital so that he could proceed without further pressure. Living liver donation is a major surgical procedure, requiring extensive medical screening and assessment.

Yet Shabbir chose to accept those risks for his wife. His decision reflected not simply words of support, but a willingness to physically give a part of himself when she needed it most.

The liver is one of the few organs that can regenerate after a portion is removed, making living donor liver transplantation possible.

Surgeons can remove a suitable portion from a healthy donor and transplant it into a recipient, with both the remaining and transplanted portions growing over time.

Reports said Shabbir’s operation was successful and both husband and wife were recovering afterwards. What began as a frightening medical crisis ultimately became a story of hope from Multan.

A Child Went Missing In 2009
A Child Went Missing In 2009

On December 28, 2009, a family travelling to Karachi on the Millat Express faced every parent’s nightmare. Dr Nasir Hasan Luck was waiting at the station when he discovered that his five year old daughter, Zainab, was no longer with her mother and older sister. She had accidentally fallen from the train near Dhabeji.

The train was stopped roughly one to two kilometres from where she had fallen. Her mother, accompanied by around 20 to 25 passengers, got off and began searching. Local residents soon joined them, turning a frightening family emergency into a community search.

The search continued for around four hours. The people looking for Zainab were not relatives or close friends. They were passengers who had been travelling on the same train and local residents who chose to help a family they had never met.

One passenger, Jamil, left his own family aboard the train and stayed behind with Zainab’s mother to help organise the search. Another passenger, Asif, contacted the railway authorities, the Edhi Centre and the police as efforts continued.

Then a young Pakhtun boy, whose name Dr Luck was unable to learn, spotted Zainab in the woodland.

Zainab was found unharmed after spending four hours separated from her family. When Dr Luck finally saw his daughter again, she told him simply, Papa, I was alone. For her parents, those words captured the fear of a child who had spent hours without knowing where her family was.

But the incident also left behind another memory: people who had never met Zainab had stopped what they were doing to look for her. Passengers stayed behind, local residents searched the area, and others contacted the authorities and emergency services.

Wasim Akram Speaks About Imran Khan
Wasim Akram Speaks About Imran Khan

Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has spoken publicly about Imran Khan, recalling his former captain as a friend, mentor and leader. His comments came during an appearance on the Old Boys, New Balls podcast.

Akram said he misses the opportunity to see and speak with Khan, who led Pakistan to its historic 1992 World Cup victory. He also referred to the long period in which the former captain has remained in prison.

The cricket legend’s remarks come amid continued discussion around Khan’s legal cases and the treatment of political prisoners in Pakistan.

Akram said he hoped authorities would ensure Khan receives fair treatment, drawing attention to what he described as the treatment given to other political leaders in the past.

He also thanked former cricket captains who had recently spoken about Khan’s situation. In August, 21 former international captains reportedly joined a call for Khan to be treated humanely and with basic consideration.

The group included prominent names such as India’s Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, alongside former England captain Michael Atherton.

Khan has been imprisoned since 2023 and remains involved in multiple legal cases. He and his wife have denied the corruption allegations against them.

The issue has also reached the international cricket community. During the recent Pakistan England Test at Lord’s, Khan’s sons spoke about their father’s circumstances in an interview with Michael Atherton broadcast by Sky Sports.

The interview generated controversy, with reports suggesting the Pakistan Cricket Board considered its response to the broadcast. Pakistan ultimately played the match as scheduled.

For Akram, the issue carries a personal dimension. He was among the players who represented Pakistan under Khan during the 1992 World Cup campaign, when the team secured its first World Cup title.

Decades later, Khan’s legacy continues to connect him with Pakistan cricket, while his political career has placed him at the centre of a separate national debate.

Akram’s latest comments add another voice from Pakistan’s cricketing community calling attention to Khan’s circumstances, while the former prime minister’s legal and political future remains uncertain.

A Principal’s Quick Decision Saves Lives
A Principal’s Quick Decision Saves Lives

A devastating flood destroyed Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nepal, but the quick thinking of its principal helped protect around 900 students from the disaster.

Principal Rajendra Dawadi received an urgent warning on August 26 that floodwaters were approaching the school. He immediately instructed students and staff to evacuate and move towards higher ground, with teachers helping guide the children to safety.

The entire evacuation reportedly took only a few minutes. School buses were also stopped from entering the area, ensuring that no additional students were brought into a location that was rapidly becoming dangerous.

Soon after the students and staff had reached safer ground, powerful floodwaters carrying mud, rocks and debris swept through the area. The force of the water completely destroyed the school building.

Although the loss of the school was devastating, the timely evacuation meant hundreds of children were already out of harm’s way. Two staff members, however, are still reported missing following the disaster.

The floods were linked to a glacial collapse in the Himalayan region and caused widespread destruction across Nepal. At least 69 schools were reportedly damaged or destroyed, disrupting education for thousands of students.

Rajendra Dawadi has been praised for placing the safety of his students above everything else during an unfolding emergency. His decisive action demonstrates how preparedness and quick leadership can make a critical difference during natural disasters.

With the school building destroyed, the focus is now turning towards rebuilding and restoring education for affected students. Dawadi has called for the school to be reconstructed at a safer location to reduce future risks.

The disaster has also highlighted the importance of early warning systems, emergency evacuation plans and safer infrastructure in vulnerable communities.
