Pakistan’s Freelancers Make Their Mark Globally
Pakistan’s Freelancers Make Their Mark Globally

Pakistan’s freelance community reached a significant milestone after generating a record $1.76 billion in export earnings during fiscal year 2025–26. The achievement highlights how professionals working online for international clients are becoming an increasingly important part of the country’s digital economy.

To recognise their contributions, the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) organised a national recognition ceremony at Governor House Sindh on August 29, 2026. The event brought together freelancers, policymakers, technology leaders and financial sector representatives.

Speakers highlighted the role of freelancers in strengthening the country’s global reputation and creating new economic opportunities.

Discussions also focused on how young Pakistanis can develop modern technology skills and build careers that reach beyond local markets. As artificial intelligence reshapes digital work, continuous learning and adaptability are becoming increasingly important. The message extended beyond celebrating individual achievements.

Despite the sector’s growth, Pakistani freelancers continue to face challenges involving international payments, banking access, taxation and digital infrastructure. Addressing these barriers could help more professionals work efficiently with overseas clients and expand their businesses.

Industry leaders also discussed the need for better access to financial services, practical skills development and support for freelancers adapting to artificial intelligence. These improvements could help individual professionals move towards building sustainable businesses.

The Class 4 student recently launched her second book, The Art of Giving, at the Karachi Marriott Hotel on August 29, 2026.

The Art of Giving introduces children to the idea that generosity is not always about giving material things. Izyana’s book explores how sharing time, knowledge, encouragement, ideas and even a smile can be meaningful acts of kindness.

The book also combines reading with activities such as colouring, counting, saving and spending, creating an interactive experience for young readers.

Published by H.O.C Publications, it aims to make positive values easier for children to understand and practise.

Her work has also earned her a Guinness World Records nomination for her achievements as a young writer and artist.

While a nomination does not mean she currently holds a Guinness World Record, it represents significant recognition for someone so young.

Azadi Run brought a fresh approach to Independence celebrations by combining fitness, national pride and community.

Rather than simply organising another Independence Day gathering, the young organisers created an experience where people could actively participate, meet others and celebrate Pakistan through sport.

The event was organised by university students in collaboration with Sportistan, with volunteers, families, runners, partners and supporters contributing to its success.

A Summer Break Idea Becomes Azadi Run
A Summer Break Idea Becomes Azadi Run

Azadi Run started as a simple idea during summer break when Ayaan, a Computer Science student at SZABIST Islamabad, wanted to create a meaningful Independence Month experience.

His vision was to bring people together through fitness, unity, and patriotism while introducing a fresh way for young Pakistanis to celebrate independence.

What began as a personal initiative soon developed into a large scale youth led event, showing how a simple idea combined with dedication and teamwork can create an experience that connects communities.

The biggest challenge for Ayaan was starting without a team. He shared his idea with three close friends, Fatima, Devia, and Ashab, who immediately supported the vision.

Together, the four students managed every aspect of Azadi Run, including branding, marketing, sponsorship outreach, planning, and execution.

Two team members from Gilgit and Hyderabad even decided to stay in Islamabad during their summer break instead of returning home because they wanted to dedicate their time toward making the event successful.

The team used social media, digital marketing, and a modern Gen Z approach to build awareness around Azadi Run.

Their goal was to create an event that combined fitness with national pride while encouraging young Pakistanis to participate in a positive Independence Month celebration.

The organizers believe Azadi Run represents one of Pakistan’s first large scale Gen Z led Independence Day running events, created entirely through youth initiative and collaboration. The event reflects how young people are using creativity and technology to build new community experiences.

Mohsin Naqvi Says Youth Seek Opportunity, Not Handouts

Speaking at the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan's young generation is not looking for temporary financial assistance or short-term incentives.

Instead, he stressed that young people want a fair system that rewards talent, ensures justice, and creates genuine employment opportunities. According to him, the aspirations of today's youth go beyond financial support and are rooted in the desire to build successful careers through hard work and equal opportunities.

Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan's greatest asset is its youth and that their ambitions should become a national priority.

Merit and Jobs Can Unlock Pakistan’s True Potential

According to Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan's youth are asking for one simple promise: opportunities based on merit. He said capable young people do not want dependence on subsidies or short-term relief but a transparent system where talent, hard work, and ability are rewarded fairly.

Such a system, he noted, would encourage innovation, productivity, and confidence among the country's future workforce.

Naqvi explained that if the right environment is created, young Pakistanis have the potential to earn competitive incomes, launch successful businesses, and contribute significantly to the national economy.

During his address, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the immense potential of Pakistan's youth, saying they possess the talent, creativity, energy, and determination needed to transform the country's future.

He stressed that providing equal opportunities would allow young people to excel in business, technology, entrepreneurship, education, innovation, and other emerging sectors that are shaping the global economy.

He also cautioned that ignoring the legitimate aspirations of young people could create larger national challenges. Instead, he said Pakistan must focus on building systems that encourage ambition, reward excellence, and provide pathways for meaningful careers.

Mohsin Naqvi called for reforms that place merit, justice, transparency, and employment at the center of Pakistan's development agenda. He argued that lasting national progress depends on building institutions that give every capable young Pakistani a fair chance to succeed, regardless of their background, financial status, or connections.

He said strengthening governance, improving transparency, and creating efficient systems would help unlock Pakistan's full potential while encouraging the next generation to contribute confidently to national development.

According to Naqvi, trust in institutions grows when citizens believe opportunities are available through ability and dedication rather than influence.
