Azadi Run started as a simple idea during summer break when Ayaan, a Computer Science student at SZABIST Islamabad, wanted to create a meaningful Independence Month experience.
His vision was to bring people together through fitness, unity, and patriotism while introducing a fresh way for young Pakistanis to celebrate independence.
What began as a personal initiative soon developed into a large scale youth led event, showing how a simple idea combined with dedication and teamwork can create an experience that connects communities.

The biggest challenge for Ayaan was starting without a team. He shared his idea with three close friends, Fatima, Devia, and Ashab, who immediately supported the vision.
Together, the four students managed every aspect of Azadi Run, including branding, marketing, sponsorship outreach, planning, and execution.
Two team members from Gilgit and Hyderabad even decided to stay in Islamabad during their summer break instead of returning home because they wanted to dedicate their time toward making the event successful.

The team used social media, digital marketing, and a modern Gen Z approach to build awareness around Azadi Run.
Their goal was to create an event that combined fitness with national pride while encouraging young Pakistanis to participate in a positive Independence Month celebration.
The organizers believe Azadi Run represents one of Pakistan’s first large scale Gen Z led Independence Day running events, created entirely through youth initiative and collaboration. The event reflects how young people are using creativity and technology to build new community experiences.

Azadi Run is designed to be more than just a race. It aims to create a shared experience where people can celebrate Independence Month through health, fitness, and community participation.
The event will feature three categories: the 14K Run, 5K Run, and Kids Fun Run, allowing people from different age groups and fitness levels to take part.
Scheduled for 9th August at F-9 Park, Gate 4, Islamabad, the event highlights the growing role of youth led initiatives in creating meaningful public experiences.
