Peshawar was plunged into grief on October 15 after the roof of Al-Khair School in the Afridi Abad neighbourhood collapsed during school hours. The disaster claimed at least 33 lives, including 32 children aged between seven and 14 and a female teacher. Twenty children were also reported injured.
The loss of so many young lives sent shockwaves across Pakistan, leaving families and communities struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
As news of the incident spread, Pakistani celebrities joined the public in expressing sorrow and extending their condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.

Actor Dananeer Mobeen, who has roots in both Islamabad and Peshawar, expressed her anguish through an Instagram story, writing, Peshawar bleeds again. Her words reflected the heartbreak surrounding another devastating incident in the city.
Actor Danish Taimoor also shared a heartfelt message for the bereaved families, acknowledging the unimaginable pain of losing children in such circumstances. He expressed his sympathy for those facing the sudden loss of their loved ones.
Cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi described the incident as deeply tragic and offered prayers for the deceased and their grieving families.

The tragedy in Peshawar came less than a month after a similar incident at a school in Karachi, bringing renewed attention to the dangers posed by structural failures in educational buildings.
Such incidents raise serious concerns about whether schools are providing children with the safe environments they deserve. Classrooms should be places where young people can learn, grow and pursue their futures without their safety being put at risk.
Beyond the condolences and public expressions of grief, the repeated loss of lives in building collapses underscores the importance of stronger safety standards, proper inspections and accountability.
