Three celebrated figures from Pakistan’s cricketing history have been invited to attend a landmark event honouring 150 years of Test cricket.
Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis will be among the distinguished guests invited by Cricket Australia for the commemorative celebrations scheduled for March 2027.
The occasion will centre on a special Test between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the venue where the first-ever Test match was played in 1877. The fixture is scheduled for March 11- 15, 2027.

The anniversary match will revisit a defining moment in cricket history, when Australia and England first faced each other in a Test at the MCG in March 1877. Their upcoming encounter will mark 150 years since that inaugural contest, connecting the sport’s origins with its modern era.
Cricket Australia is also planning events around the match, with invitations extended to former captains and prominent players from several cricketing nations. Retired Australian and English cricketers are also expected to be part of the celebrations.

Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis each made their mark on Pakistan cricket in different ways. Abbas earned recognition for his batting, while Akram and Younis became prominent figures in fast bowling, helping shape Pakistan’s reputation as a formidable cricketing nation.
Their invitations place Pakistan’s cricketing heritage within an international gathering that will bring together figures associated with different generations of the game. The event is designed to celebrate not just a historic fixture but also the people who have contributed to Test cricket’s enduring legacy.
