Pakistan’s Fashion Industry Takes Centre Stage In Lahore
Pakistan’s Fashion Industry Takes Centre Stage In Lahore

Lahore is hosting the second edition of LAAM Fashion Week from October 23 to 26, bringing together established fashion houses, independent labels, retail brands and emerging designers. The four-day event features 43 shows and more than 50 established labels, reflecting the diversity of Pakistan’s fashion industry, from couture and bridalwear to contemporary clothing and high-street collections.

The event is co-created by LAAM and Design651, with a format that connects runway presentations to online shopping. Alongside familiar names such as HSY, Ali Xeeshan, Deepak Perwani and Sania Maskatiya, the programme creates space for newer creatives to present their work.

This edition gives young designers a dedicated platform through the LFW Hot List, organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design. Ten selected designers are presenting capsule collections, offering audiences a look at fresh ideas and individual creative approaches. The showcase includes themes ranging from nature and identity to personal experiences and social questions.

The programme also expands beyond traditional fashion shows. LFW Retail Runway features 12 manufacturing-led and retail-ready brands, while LFW Edit introduces contemporary and high-street labels, several of which are making their major Fashion Week debut.

Pakistan’s Biggest Fashion Names Shine At LAAM Fashion Week

A key feature of LAAM Fashion Week is its focus on making collections accessible to shoppers beyond the physical event. The shows are being livestreamed through the LAAM app and website, with ARY Plus also providing coverage. This approach allows people in Pakistan and abroad to follow the presentations and discover participating designers without travelling to Lahore.

The platform behind the event reports more than five million app downloads, over 25 million active users and six million shoppers worldwide. These figures indicate the potential reach available to participating labels, although actual sales and business outcomes will depend on customer response.

PIA’s New Uniforms Bring Fashion And National Identity Together
PIA’s New Uniforms Bring Fashion And National Identity Together

Pakistan International Airlines is preparing to introduce a fresh look for its cabin crew, with celebrated designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, widely known as HSY, selected to create the new uniforms. The collection is scheduled to enter service on October 31, 2026, aboard the airline’s inaugural London-to-Islamabad flight operated by its newly acquired Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The new designs aim to combine a contemporary appearance with elements inspired by Pakistan’s cultural identity. Rather than focusing on style alone, the collection has been developed for the practical demands of cabin service, with breathable materials, structured tailoring and construction intended to withstand long-haul operations.

The final selection followed a showcase in Karachi, where 10 prominent Pakistani designers presented uniform concepts for consideration. The participants included Maheen Khan, Deepak and Fahad, Generation, Ismail Farid, Munib Nawaz, Deepak Perwani, Faraz Manan, Amir Adnan and Nomi Ansari, whose designs had been used by PIA for the previous 12 years.

A five-member jury assessed the submissions, bringing together expertise from fashion, beauty, education and aviation. The panel included Khaadi founder Shamoon Sultan, couturier Nilofer Shahid, beauty expert Nabila, Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design Vice-Chancellor Hina Tayyaba Khalil and experienced PIA professional Naseem Tehrani.

PIA has a long history of collaborating with internationally recognised designers. In 1966, French fashion designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s distinctive A-line tunic and hood. British designer Sir Hardy Amies, known for dressing Queen Elizabeth II, also contributed to its uniform legacy during the 1970s. HSY’s appointment continues that association between aviation and fashion.

For HSY, designing for the national airline represents an opportunity to communicate Pakistani hospitality and cultural identity to international travellers. The collection seeks to give crew members clothing that supports confidence and comfort while maintaining a polished appearance.

Karachi Reconnects With Its Fashion Legacy
Karachi Reconnects With Its Fashion Legacy

LAAM Fashion Week’s Kaleidoscopic Karachi brought the city’s fashion community together at the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture in Clifton on September 26, creating an evening that connected Karachi’s fashion history with its contemporary identity.

A major highlight was an exhibition featuring more than four decades of fashion photography by celebrated photographer Tapu Javeri. The photographs recalled the distinctive imagery of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, featuring many models and personalities who went on to become influential names in Pakistani fashion.

The evening featured Deepak Perwani, Wardha Saleem, Khaadi, The Pink Tree Company and Sana Safinaz, with each fashion house presenting its own interpretation of Karachi’s evolving visual identity.

Deepak Perwani opened the show with a monochrome collection featuring structured silhouettes, embellishment and a striking appearance by veteran models Seemi Pasha, Frieha Altaf and Atiya Khan. Khaadi looked towards the future through experimental prints and embellished tunics.

What made Kaleidoscopic Karachi distinctive was its combination of memory and modernity. The photography exhibition looked back at decades of Pakistani fashion, while the runway offered contemporary interpretations of the city’s culture, colours and changing character.

The showcase also reflected how Karachi continues to provide a meeting point for different creative influences. Eastern and Western silhouettes appeared alongside references to the city’s architecture, music, traditions and evolving urban identity.

Maria B Opens Its First Store In Dhaka
Maria B Opens Its First Store In Dhaka

Pakistani fashion label Maria B has entered Bangladesh with the opening of its first international store at Center Point Mall in Dhaka. The launch marks a new chapter for the brand as it expands its retail presence beyond Pakistan.

The move is particularly notable because Bangladesh has a major fashion and garment industry of its own, yet has historically had limited access to official international fashion retailers. Maria B’s arrival has therefore attracted attention from local fashion circles.

The Dhaka flagship offers a broad selection from the Maria B portfolio, including unstitched collections, luxury prêt, formal wear, MBasics, perfumes and handcrafted jewellery. The store has been designed to give Bangladeshi customers direct access to the brand’s collections.

Before the physical store opened, Bangladeshi customers interested in Maria B products often relied on purchases from overseas markets or online preorders. The new outlet provides a local retail destination for the label’s growing customer base in Bangladesh.

Maria B’s Dhaka launch represents more than the opening of another retail outlet. It places a Pakistani fashion house directly within one of South Asia’s largest garment and fashion markets, creating a new platform for the brand to connect with regional consumers.

The expansion also reflects the increasing movement of South Asian fashion across borders, as established labels look towards international customers and new markets. Bangladesh’s fashion community has already taken notice of the brand’s arrival and its distinctive design identity.

What sets LAAM Fashion Week apart is its direct connection between the runway and retail. Collections are made available to customers through LAAM’s digital platform immediately after being presented during the live streamed shows.

The model allows Pakistani designers to move beyond a traditional fashion week audience and place their collections directly in front of international customers.

It also gives viewers the opportunity to discover and purchase pieces without waiting for a separate retail launch.

Barrel Fit: The Sculptural Statement
Barrel Fit: The Sculptural Statement

Also known as horseshoe pants, barrel fit trousers are bringing an architectural edge to everyday fashion.

The silhouette curves outward through the thighs and knees before gradually narrowing toward the ankle, creating a distinctive sculptural shape.

Unlike traditional straight trousers, barrel pants are intentionally exaggerated. Their curved construction gives even a simple outfit an instantly fashion forward feel.

Pair them with a fitted shirt, tucked in top, cropped jacket or shorter kurta to balance the volume.

Relaxed Wide Leg: Comfort Gets Chic
Relaxed Wide Leg: Comfort Gets Chic

Wide leg trousers have moved far beyond the classic palazzo. The newest versions are more structured and sophisticated, flowing loosely from the waist while creating a long, elongated silhouette.

Their appeal is obvious: they look polished while feeling incredibly comfortable. Lightweight cotton, linen, crepe and flowing fabrics make them particularly appealing for Pakistan’s warm climate, while tailored versions can easily transition into formal dressing.

They also work beautifully with Pakistani fashion. Pair them with a fitted kurta, crisp shirt or structured blazer, or create a monochromatic look for a more elevated finish.

Balloon Pants: Volume Takes Centre Stage
Balloon Pants: Volume Takes Centre Stage

If wide legs feel relaxed, balloon pants take the volume trend somewhere much more dramatic. Generous through the thighs, these trousers create a rounded silhouette before narrowing toward the ankle, often with a defined or cinched waist.

The result is playful, sculptural and unmistakably fashion forward. Their exaggerated proportions make them ideal for those who want their trousers to become the focal point of an outfit.

For Pakistani dressing, balloon pants offer an interesting contemporary alternative to traditional loose silhouettes.

Pintuck Pants: The Quiet Luxury Favourite
Pintuck Pants: The Quiet Luxury Favourite

For those who prefer their fashion statements understated, pintuck and front seam trousers offer the perfect answer.

These tailored straight leg pants feature a sharp vertical crease or seam running down the front, creating a sleek and elongated appearance.

The silhouette feels polished without being overly formal, making it versatile for work, dinners, events and everyday dressing. Neutral shades such as black, ivory, beige, grey and chocolate make them especially easy to style.
