Pakistan has successfully conducted the first flight test of its indigenously developed Fa’az air-to-air missile, marking an important milestone in the country's aerospace and defence industry. The test was announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on November 3, 2026.
Equipped with an advanced terminal guidance system, the missile is designed to engage aerial targets at longer ranges. Its development reflects Pakistan's efforts to strengthen domestic expertise in advanced defence technology and reduce reliance on foreign weapons systems.

The Fa’az missile features an advanced terminal guidance system that helps it identify and engage aerial targets during the final stage of an interception. Its longer-range engagement capability is expected to improve the operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force.
The missile family was publicly showcased at the International Defence Industry Fair in Istanbul in 2023, where different guidance configurations were presented. These included radar-guided and imaging infrared-guided variants.
However, the military has not yet disclosed the tested missile's exact range, speed or specific configuration.

The Fa’az programme highlights Pakistan's growing focus on developing advanced defence systems through domestic scientific and engineering capabilities. Local development can offer greater control over future production, maintenance and potential upgrades of military equipment.
The achievement also recognises the work of Pakistani scientists and engineers involved in designing and testing sophisticated aerospace technologies. Following the successful test, the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Defence Forces and service chiefs congratulated the development teams.
