Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited a family in Hasan Abdal who fulfilled their dream of owning a home through the provincial government's Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing programme.
During the visit, she met the family, congratulated them on their new home and shared a meal with them. The occasion highlighted the difference that access to financial assistance can make for families who have land but lack the resources to build a house.
Maryam expressed happiness that the family was now living peacefully under its own roof and offered prayers for their continued happiness and prosperity.

During the gathering, the family welcomed Maryam Nawaz with traditional home-cooked food, including bhindi (okra) and daal (lentils). She particularly enjoyed the meal and praised the dishes, saying she had rarely eaten such delicious okra and lentils.
The warm exchange reflected the simplicity of the occasion, where a family celebrated its new home by sharing a meal with a visiting guest. Maryam also appreciated their hospitality and shared her happiness at seeing them settled.
She later expressed her wish that Allah would always keep the family happy, prosperous and together in their home.

The family's home is part of Punjab's Apni Chhat Apna Ghar initiative, which provides financial assistance to eligible families to construct houses on their own plots.
During the visit, retired Havildar Aitbar Shah shared that he had received a loan of Rs1.5 million, which enabled him to turn his plot into a completed home.
The Punjab government announced that the programme had reached its target of providing 225,000 housing loans to deserving families. The milestone highlights the importance of affordable financing in helping people move towards secure homeownership.
