A New Pathway For Aspiring Artists
Young people in Balochistan may soon have greater access to professional training in theatre and music without having to move to another city. Karachi-based National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) is preparing to extend its educational reach to Quetta through a partnership with the provincial government.
The plan was formalised through a memorandum of understanding between the academy and Balochistan’s Culture Department. It lays the groundwork for a dedicated campus in the provincial capital, bringing a recognised performing arts institution closer to students in the region.

Making Professional Training More Accessible
For students interested in the performing arts, pursuing formal education can involve significant travel and relocation. A campus in Quetta could reduce that barrier by giving local talent a place to learn and develop within their own community.
NAPA’s experience in performing arts education could help introduce students to professional approaches to performance, artistic collaboration and stagecraft. The initiative could also create opportunities for emerging performers to engage with instructors and practitioners who bring experience from Pakistan’s wider arts scene.

Taking Balochistan’s Creative Talent Further
Balochistan has a rich cultural landscape, with distinctive musical traditions, languages, storytelling and performance practices. Supporting new generations of artists could help preserve these traditions while giving them opportunities to reach wider audiences.
A performing arts institution in Quetta could provide a meeting point for traditional and contemporary forms of expression.
It may also help young performers build professional networks and explore careers in theatre, music and related creative fields. The partnership is an initial step rather than a completed campus launch.
