Islamabad Police has introduced a welfare initiative that will give its personnel a chance to perform Hajj and Umrah with all expenses covered by the department. The announcement was made by Inspector General of Police Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry on October 8, 2026.
Under the plan, three police officers will be selected for Hajj every year, while one officer will be chosen for Umrah every three months. The selections will be made through lucky draws, giving eligible employees an opportunity to benefit without relying on personal recommendations.

The announcement came during a meeting in which the IGP reviewed staff welfare arrangements and administrative matters with officers from the Logistics Division.
The initiative reflects a focus on recognising the efforts of personnel who work to maintain security and public order in Islamabad.
Police officers often work extended hours and face demanding conditions while carrying out their responsibilities. According to the IGP, their service deserves practical support, alongside recognition for their dedication to protecting citizens and their property.

The Hajj and Umrah initiative comes as Islamabad Police leadership emphasises improving facilities and support for its workforce. The IGP has also stressed the importance of rewarding strong performance and ensuring that officers carry out their duties professionally.
For eligible personnel, the programme could provide an opportunity to undertake a significant religious journey without bearing its full financial cost. The periodic Umrah draw also means that opportunities will be offered throughout the year rather than being limited to a single annual selection.
The department has directed the relevant officials to take the necessary steps to implement its welfare measures.
