British Pakistani singer Zayn Malik has once again used his global platform to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
With more than 51 million followers on Instagram, Malik shared a UNICEF appeal highlighting the devastating impact of the conflict on Palestinian children and families.
The post reported that four children had been killed, while separate strikes destroyed a warehouse containing UNICEF nutrition supplies and severely damaged a UNICEF supported water facility.
Malik amplified the appeal to his followers and encouraged them to support humanitarian relief efforts.
Malik's latest message continues a pattern of publicly expressing solidarity with Palestinians.
In May 2021, he spoke out on social media against the violence and highlighted the devastating impact on children and families, calling for greater attention to the suffering.
He has also previously promoted the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund through his social media platforms and supported fundraising efforts aimed at providing urgent assistance to children in Gaza. His advocacy has therefore extended beyond a single post or moment.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has placed children among those most severely affected by the continuing conflict.
Access to food, clean water, healthcare and other essential services has faced immense pressure, while damage to humanitarian infrastructure has further complicated relief efforts.
The UNICEF appeal shared by Malik specifically highlighted the destruction of nutrition supplies and damage to a water facility.
Such losses can have consequences far beyond the immediate destruction, particularly for children who depend on humanitarian organisations for basic necessities.
Born Zain Javadd Malik in Bradford in 1993 to a Pakistani father and English mother, Zayn Malik rose to international fame after joining One Direction in 2010. The group became one of the world's best selling boy bands before Malik left in 2015 to begin his solo career.
His debut solo album, Mind of Mine, topped the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States, establishing him as a successful solo artist.
Since then, he has continued releasing music and building a global following. Today, Malik's influence extends beyond music.
