For Yasir Hussain, theatre has remained an important part of his creative journey despite his work across television, film, hosting and writing.
His latest production, So Suite, brings him back to the stage after the success of Monkey Business. Yasir has been associated with several well known Pakistani stage productions, including Aangan Terrha, Pawnay 14 August, Sawa 14 August and Half Plate.

Yasir believes comic timing is central to successful theatre, particularly when delivering rapid one liners and dialogue. He says years of performing have helped him develop that timing and understand how the structure of a sentence can change its impact.
His admiration for legendary comedian Umer Sharif has also influenced his approach to live comedy. Reflecting on Sharif’s later performances, Yasir says he realised that an artist should make the most of their strongest creative period rather than constantly saving material for the future.

With So Suite, Yasir has also deliberately created space for the rest of the cast to carry the story. He says he wants to help develop new actors who can share the stage with him and eventually perform independently.
Another defining feature of his theatre is its connection to the moment. Yasir changes jokes and references according to current events and even adapts parts of the production for different cities.
