Coke Studio Nu.WAV has released its fifth track, Qasam, featuring singers Shae Gill and Afusic. Produced and directed by Abdullah Kasumbi, the song brings together contemporary electronic production and traditional South Asian musical influences, creating a distinctive sound.
Written by Afusic, Qasam explores the complicated emotions of a relationship caught between affection, heartbreak and the desire to stay together. Its lyrics reflect the uncertainty of two people struggling with emotional distance while attempting to preserve their connection.
The musical arrangement combines electronic elements with traditional sarangi melodies performed by Gul Khan.

Abdullah Kasumbi's direction approaches the relationship at the centre of Qasam through movement and visual symbolism rather than a conventional storyline. The choreography, led by movement director Shams Mansur, reflects different stages of emotional connection, from attraction and closeness to separation and reconciliation.
One of the video's recurring images features dancers appearing to be controlled by invisible strings, while other sequences use movements resembling stitches as performers repeatedly come together and move apart. The imagery represents the fragile nature of relationships and the effort required to repair emotional connections.

Shae Gill first gained widespread recognition through her Coke Studio Season 14 collaboration with Ali Sethi on Pasoori, which became an international success. Afusic, meanwhile, established his presence through his breakout track Pal Pal, which reached international audiences, topped the UK Official Asian Music Chart and entered the Canadian Hot 100.
Qasam marks Afusic's second appearance in the Nu.WAV series after its opening release, Dil. The track also brings together a wider creative team, including cinematographer Babar Dahr, production designer Hammad Sohail and movement director Shams Mansur, under Kasumbi's creative direction.
