Rawalpindi has inaugurated Allama Iqbal Park and Milad Park, adding two new recreational spaces to the city. The parks are intended to give residents safer and more accessible places for leisure, outdoor activities and family time.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi inaugurated the parks and said the development of modern recreational facilities was part of efforts to make Rawalpindi a greener and healthier city. He also highlighted the importance of providing public spaces where families, women and children can spend time outdoors.

Safety has also been incorporated into the newly opened parks. Surveillance cameras and other security arrangements have been installed, with particular attention given to creating secure environments for women and children.
The emphasis on safer public spaces comes as cities increasingly look to parks as places where families can gather, children can play and residents can participate in outdoor activities. Accessible recreational areas can also provide communities with alternatives to spending leisure time indoors.
Officials said the parks are part of broader efforts to improve public facilities across Rawalpindi.

The inauguration comes alongside wider plans to expand and improve civic infrastructure in Rawalpindi. Officials say work is underway on issues involving gas, water, electricity and sewerage, while ageing pipelines and roads are also being upgraded.
The newly opened parks add a different dimension to this development by focusing on the city’s recreational needs. Public parks provide shared spaces for exercise, family activities and community interaction, making them an important part of urban life.
