Punjab to Launch 27 New Sahulat Bazaars Across the Province
The Punjab government has announced the establishment of 27 new Sahulat Bazaars across the province as part of a price relief initiative for citizens.
The program aims to provide essential commodities such as fruits, vegetables, and daily-use items at subsidized rates to reduce household expenses.
Authorities state that the initiative is designed to support low and middle-income families by improving access to affordable and quality goods.
It also reflects broader policy efforts focused on stabilizing food prices, improving market access and reducing the financial burden.
Sahulat Bazaars are government-supported retail markets established to provide essential goods at prices lower than standard market rates.
These markets are designed to offer a structured and regulated shopping environment where food items and household necessities are sold under monitored conditions to ensure affordability and transparency.
In recent years, the program has expanded due to increasing demand for affordable shopping alternatives. Sahulat Bazaars aim to improve price accessibility, reduce the impact of inflation on consumers.
Under the new expansion plan, Punjab will establish 27 permanent Sahulat Bazaars across multiple districts to increase access to affordable goods.
In addition, 13 Sahulat on the Go mobile bazaars are planned to serve areas with limited access to fixed market locations, particularly in urban and semi-urban regions.
Officials report that the initiative is expected to generate over 1,300 business opportunities and create hundreds of direct employment positions. This expansion reflects efforts to improve market accessibility, strengthen supply distribution systems.
Products sold at Sahulat Bazaars are expected to be offered at prices lower than those in open markets, helping reduce the cost of essential household goods.
The initiative is designed to benefit a large number of households by enabling savings on groceries and daily-use items, particularly for low-income families.
Planned facilities include parking areas, clean drinking water, seating spaces, and dedicated service counters for senior citizens. These features aim to improve customer convenience and ensure that the markets remain accessible and organized.
The upcoming Sahulat Bazaars will incorporate modern management and security systems to improve efficiency and oversight.
Surveillance cameras connected to central monitoring systems are planned to enhance security and ensure better regulation of market operations. Some locations may also introduce home delivery services for nearby residents.
Authorities are additionally considering solar energy solutions and infrastructure upgrades to reduce operational costs and improve sustainability.
