Pakistan Wins Three Bronze Medals at International Physics Olympiad 2026

Pakistan celebrated an impressive achievement after its student delegation secured three Bronze Medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026, hosted in Colombia.
The international event is regarded as one of the highest-level academic competitions for secondary school students with exceptional abilities in physics.
The medal-winning students were Zulfiqar Ali, Ali Hamdan Alvi, and Daniyal Shahzad Hamid. Two additional participants, Hazza Mahmood and Abdullah Ejaz, received Honorable Mentions in recognition of their strong performances throughout the competition.

Before representing Pakistan on the global stage, the students successfully passed a demanding national selection process that identified the country's most promising physics learners.
They then completed extensive academic training designed to prepare them for the challenging international competition.
The preparation program was conducted through the STEM Careers Program, a collaborative initiative of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
The program focuses on strengthening scientific understanding, analytical reasoning, and practical problem-solving abilities.

This year's International Physics Olympiad welcomed more than 400 students representing over 90 countries, creating an environment where outstanding young physicists could demonstrate their knowledge through demanding theoretical and experimental assessments.
The Olympiad is internationally recognized for encouraging academic excellence while promoting collaboration and cultural exchange among talented students from diverse backgrounds.
Participants gain valuable experience by competing alongside some of the brightest young scientific minds worldwide.

The achievement highlights the combined efforts of dedicated students, experienced mentors, and educational institutions working to strengthen science education across Pakistan.
Their commitment continues to create opportunities for talented young learners to compete internationally.
Strong performances in global Olympiads also encourage greater interest in STEM education by inspiring future students to pursue careers in research, technology, engineering, and scientific innovation.
Winning three Bronze Medals at IPhO 2026 reinforces Pakistan's growing reputation in international academic competitions and demonstrates the potential of its next generation of scientists.
