Pakistan’s domestic energy outlook has received a boost with a fresh oil and gas discovery at the Bobi Oil Field in Sindh, operated by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).
The company successfully drilled and evaluated the Bobi 11 well, uncovering additional hydrocarbon potential in an area already identified for its energy resources.
The well is expected to produce around 1,000 barrels of oil per day, along with approximately 1 million standard cubic feet of natural gas daily.

The latest discovery was not an isolated development. Information gathered from the earlier Bobi Deep 1 well helped provide a clearer understanding of the field and supported further exploration.
That data played a role in guiding drilling decisions for Bobi 11, demonstrating how exploration can build progressively on geological information collected from previous wells.
The outcome also highlights the potential of continued exploration across Sindh.

More locally produced oil and gas could support Pakistan’s efforts to reduce pressure from imported energy. Domestic production can contribute to meeting national demand while limiting some exposure to fluctuations in international energy markets.
The Bobi 11 results could also encourage further investment and exploration in surrounding areas if additional resource potential is identified. More discoveries could strengthen indigenous energy supplies and create opportunities across the wider energy industry.
For a country managing persistent energy and import challenges, every successful exploration project matters.
