Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid Rs27,194,004 to the Punjab government for the use of its official aircraft during her recent London visit, according to payment documents reported on September 17.
The amount was deposited into the Punjab government’s treasury account through the National Bank of Pakistan’s Valencia Branch in Lahore. Reports say the payment was made through a Bank of Punjab cheque and settled the aircraft related expenses associated with the trip.
Maryam travelled to London from September 5 to 9 to attend her daughter Mahnoor Safdar’s graduation ceremony.

The use of Punjab’s Gulfstream G500 for the London trip became a subject of political discussion after details of the journey emerged. Opposition lawmakers questioned the use of an official aircraft for a family event and sought information about the cost and authority under which it was used.
A Punjab Assembly member, Waqas Mahmood Maan, submitted an adjournment motion seeking details of the aircraft’s use and the expenditure involved. Earlier reports had put the cost at around Rs12.5 million, before the final aircraft bill was reported at Rs27.19 million.

The final reported bill was revised before the payment was made. Reports indicate that an initial figure of about Rs29.37 million was subsequently reduced to approximately Rs28.04 million and then to the final amount of Rs27.19 million.
The payment means the Punjab government has received the reported aircraft related cost of the London journey. However, the wider discussion over the use of the provincial aircraft has continued, including questions about the administrative approval and circumstances surrounding its deployment.
The reported reimbursement addresses the financial cost attributed to the aircraft’s use.
