Imran Khan to Be Shifted to Shifa Hospital for Medical Treatment

The Supreme Court has directed authorities to shift PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for medical assessment and treatment, following concerns raised about his health during incarceration.
The order also provides for greater access to his family, including weekly meetings and telephone conversations with his children.
His personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan, has also been directed to have access to him.

The Supreme Court’s decision followed reports highlighting fluctuating blood pressure, palpitations, headaches, restlessness and anxiety.
A medical board had recommended greater interaction with Imran’s immediate family to help manage his blood pressure and mental stress.
The bench also ordered authorities to submit Imran Khan’s complete medical record, including tests, prescriptions, medical opinions, examination reports and details of treatment since his arrest.

The court has directed that no political activity, media talks or press conferences be held outside Shifa International Hospital during Imran Khan’s treatment.
It stressed that other patients should not be affected by activity surrounding the PTI founder.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Parliamentary Secretary Shahid Khattak assured the bench that the party would keep its political activities separate from the hospital and comply with the court’s directions.

The Supreme Court also examined restrictions on Imran Khan’s meetings with his sisters and family, seeking records of previous meetings and questioning why earlier Islamabad High Court directions had not been fully implemented.
The bench stressed that meeting family members is not a favour granted to an incarcerated person but a fundamental right.
It also directed arrangements for Imran to speak with his children by telephone and ordered weekly family meetings.
