Imran Khan Meets Sister at Adiala Jail After Supreme Court Order

PTI founder Imran Khan has met his sister Noreen Niazi at Adiala Jail, marking his first confirmed meeting with a family member in 2026.
The visit came shortly after the Supreme Court issued new directions concerning his family access and medical care.
Noreen was permitted to enter the prison and met Imran in the conference room. Their conversation reportedly focused on his health and other matters, while she also informed him about the court’s latest directions.

The Supreme Court has directed jail authorities to facilitate weekly meetings between Imran Khan and his family, alongside telephone communication with his sons.
The order came amid continued concerns surrounding his access to relatives and medical care. The court also directed that a medical board at Shifa International Hospital examine Imran, giving his health situation renewed legal attention.
Noreen briefed her brother about the medical examination and the court’s instructions during their meeting.

While Noreen was allowed to meet Imran, some of his other relatives were unable to reach the prison. His sisters Aleema Khanum and Dr Uzma Khanum, along with cousin Qasim Zaman, were stopped at a checkpoint on Adiala Road.
A heavy police presence was reported around the prison, with PTI figures also present near the checkpoint. The restrictions added another layer to the ongoing dispute over family access to the incarcerated former prime minister.
Aleema later told reporters that the medical examination order followed months of requests from Imran’s family and the PTI.

Imran Khan’s health has remained a major issue throughout his imprisonment, with his family and party repeatedly seeking greater access to doctors and medical information.
His right eye condition, diagnosed as right central retinal vein occlusion, became a particular concern earlier this year.
The government has rejected claims that he has been denied adequate medical treatment, while PTI and his family have continued to call for greater transparency regarding his health and prison conditions.
The Supreme Court’s latest directions could therefore have wider significance.
