Hasan Raheem’s ‘Peechay Hutt’ Gets A Netflix Moment
Hasan Raheem’s ‘Peechay Hutt’ has reached a global streaming audience after being featured in Netflix’s new dance comedy ‘Best of the Best’.
The film began streaming on September 18 and follows two childhood friends who join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood fusion dance team while chasing a place at the US championship.
The song originally appeared on Coke Studio Season 14 in 2022, with Hasan performing alongside Justin Bibis and Talal Qureshi.
‘Peechay Hutt’ was written by Hasan Raheem, while the song’s narrative was developed by Hasan and Xulfi. Talal Qureshi and Xulfi handled the composition, arrangement and production, with Qureshi also contributing the track’s hook.
The song combines Hasan’s vocals with the distinctive chorus of Justin Bibis and Qureshi’s electronic production.
Built around its instantly recognisable Peechay Hutt refrain, the track carries a dance focused energy that fits naturally into a film centred on competitive Bollywood fusion dance.
Directed by Lena Khan, ‘Best of the Best’ stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Maya and Priyanka Kedia as Anjali, with Hasan Minhaj playing Professor Hamza Latif.
The story explores friendship, sisterhood and self acceptance through the competitive world of college Bollywood fusion dance.
The film draws inspiration from the South Asian college dance circuit in the United States, where teams combine Bollywood choreography with contemporary dance styles.
