DigiSkills.pk is one of Pakistan’s most impactful digital training programs, designed to equip youth with practical, market-relevant online skills.
In a global economy increasingly driven by freelancing, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship, the platform plays a key role in helping Pakistan’s workforce access international digital opportunities and improve earning potential.
Launched in 2018 under the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication and funded by Ignite National Technology Fund, DigiSkills is implemented with the Virtual University of Pakistan.
It was created to address youth unemployment and global demand for digital talent by offering free training nationwide. Today, it stands as Pakistan’s largest structured online skills development platform.
DigiSkills has delivered over 4.5 million trainings across Pakistan, reaching learners in major cities as well as small towns and rural areas.
To expand further, DigiSkills 3.0 aims to provide an additional 3 million trainings in coming years, strengthening Pakistan’s digital workforce and expanding access to skill-based learning nationwide.
The platform offers courses in high-demand fields such as Freelancing, Digital Marketing, SEO, Graphic Design, Video Editing, WordPress, Data Analytics Virtual Assistance E-Commerce, and AI using Python.
The expanded curriculum now includes UI/UX Design, Cloud Computing, Mobile App Development, Shopify Development, and Full Stack Development, aligning with global industry needs.
DigiSkills uses a structured Learning Management System with video lectures, assignments, quizzes, and practical projects. Learners receive certifications from DigiSkills upon completion.
The program focuses on practical execution, helping users convert skills into real freelance income through platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.
The program has been contributed significantly to Pakistan’s freelancing ecosystem by enabling thousands to earn in foreign currency.
Many trainees especially from smaller cities have transitioned into full-time freelance careers in design, writing, programming, and digital marketing, strengthening Pakistan’s digital export potential.
DigiSkills plays a vital role in women’s empowerment by creating opportunities for remote earning.
With nearly two-thirds of Pakistan’s population under 30, the program helps transform youth potential into a skilled workforce ready for global digital markets.
Despite its success, challenges remain, including keeping course content updated with fast-changing technologies, improving internet access in rural areas, and helping more learners convert training into stable income.
However, DigiSkills continues to expand and evolve as a key driver of Pakistan’s digital future.
