The 2027 ODI World Cup could produce more than one chapter of the Pakistan-India rivalry, with the tournament format creating a possibility of three meetings between the neighbours.
Their first encounter is already confirmed. Pakistan and India are both in Group A, alongside Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and one qualifier. The two teams will meet on October 10, 2027, at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium.

The possibility comes from the World Cup’s redesigned competition structure. After the initial qualification phase, 12 teams will compete across two groups of six, with the leading teams moving into the Super 7 stage.
India and Pakistan have been assigned positions in the Super 7 seeding system. If both qualify for that stage, their paths include a scheduled meeting on November 7 in Cape Town, giving the rivalry another potential chapter beyond the group match.
The format then sends the top four teams from the Super 7 into the semi-finals.

The opening Pakistan-India match is scheduled for October 10, just days after the main group stage begins. India will open its campaign against Australia on October 7, while Pakistan are scheduled to face Afghanistan on October 8 before their much-anticipated clash.
The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the tournament beginning on October 2 and the final scheduled for November 21 in Johannesburg. The semi-finals are set for November 17 and 18.
