Maj Gen Faisal Naseer Takes Charge at NACTA

Major General Faisal Naseer has been appointed National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority for a three year term, bringing extensive military and intelligence experience to the organisation.
The federal government approved the appointment under the NACTA Act, with the officer assuming the position immediately through secondment.
His appointment comes as NACTA looks to strengthen its role as a central platform for coordinating Pakistan’s national counter terrorism efforts and developing a more unified strategic approach.

Maj Gen Naseer brings a long career in security and intelligence to his new responsibility. He had been serving as Director General Counter Intelligence at the ISI since 2022 after being promoted to major general.
He has also received the Hilal i Imtiaz Military and Tamgha i Basalat and Bar for his service.
His background could provide NACTA with additional strategic and operational expertise as the authority works to improve coordination between institutions involved in counter terrorism and national security.

Since its establishment, NACTA was envisioned as a central coordination body bringing different counter terrorism efforts together through a unified framework.
Maj Gen Naseer’s appointment comes at a time when there is renewed focus on making that coordination role more effective and coherent.
With experienced leadership and stronger institutional collaboration, NACTA has an opportunity to further develop its capacity as a national platform for policy, intelligence coordination and strategic counter terrorism planning.
