Najmun Nahar Makes History Across 185 Countries

Bangladeshi adventurer Najmun Nahar has reached an extraordinary milestone after travelling to 185 countries, a journey that has unfolded across 26 years.
She completed her 185th country visit in Bhutan on August 7, 2026, marking another major chapter in her remarkable exploration of the world.
According to recent reports, Nahar is the first Bangladeshi and first Muslim woman to accomplish this milestone. Throughout her travels, she has carried Bangladesh’s red and green flag to more than 1,294 locations, turning her personal passion for exploration into a wider celebration of her country’s identity.

Nahar’s international journey began in 2000 with a trip to India. What started as an adventure gradually became a lifelong mission to discover different cultures, communities and corners of the world.
She reached her 100th country, Zimbabwe, in 2018 before continuing towards even bigger milestones. São Tomé and Príncipe became her 150th country in 2021, while Vanuatu marked number 175 in 2024.
Her journey continued with the Bahamas in 2025, followed by Bhutan in 2026. Each milestone reflects years of determination, planning and a willingness to explore places far beyond the familiar.

For Nahar, travelling has been about more than collecting countries. Her journeys have provided a platform to introduce people around the world to Bangladesh’s culture, history and heritage.
She has also used her experiences to speak about issues including peace, environmental protection and women’s empowerment. Her travels have therefore become an opportunity to connect exploration with meaningful conversations.
Through visits to schools and universities in different countries, Nahar has encouraged young people to pursue their ambitions with confidence.

Nahar’s achievement places her among a small group of travellers whose journeys have reached extraordinary global milestones. Her story also offers a powerful example of how persistence can transform a personal passion into something much larger.
Carrying Bangladesh’s flag across continents, she has represented her country while meeting people from vastly different cultures and backgrounds.
Her 185 country milestone is ultimately not just a number. It reflects more than two decades of determination, discovery and purpose, while inspiring others, particularly young women, to explore the world, embrace new experiences and pursue goals that may initially seem impossible.
