Pakistan and Kuwait have signed a new defence cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening military relations and expanding collaboration on security matters.
The agreement comes as both countries look to deepen their longstanding strategic partnership.
Under the protocol, Pakistan will support Kuwait through areas including military training, capacity building and border management, alongside other fields mutually agreed upon by both sides.

The latest protocol builds upon a defence cooperation agreement signed in 2023, highlighting the steady expansion of military ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.
Discussions between the two sides have continued over recent months to identify new areas for cooperation.
The renewed framework focuses on strengthening institutional connections between the two countries’ defence establishments. Greater coordination can support the exchange of military expertise, professional training and operational experience.

The agreement was discussed during the visit of Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah to Pakistan, where he held meetings with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The high level engagements provided an opportunity for officials to discuss defence relations and explore ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
The meetings also reinforced the importance both sides place on maintaining close institutional ties.

The expanded defence partnership is expected to deepen cooperation between the Pakistani and Kuwaiti militaries, particularly through training, capacity building and other mutually agreed areas.
Such collaboration can strengthen institutional capabilities while encouraging greater coordination.
Officials said the agreement could also contribute to broader efforts aimed at promoting regional security and stability.
