Punjab Govt Announces 100,000 Free Electric Bikes for Students

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major student-focused initiative under which 100,000 electric bikes will be distributed to students across the province during the year.
The program is aimed at making education more accessible by helping students overcome daily transportation challenges.
Alongside the electric bikes, the government will also provide 100,000 laptops and 50,000 merit-based scholarships to support academic excellence and encourage higher educational achievement.
The announcement reflects the Punjab government's continued emphasis on investing in students through initiatives that promote learning, accessibility, and equal opportunities.

In addition to student assistance programs, the provincial government has announced plans to establish Nawaz Sharif Schools in every tehsil while constructing 300 modern schools across Punjab.
The initiatives are intended to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve learning environments. A significant investment of Rs40 billion has also been allocated for the renovation and upgrading of existing government schools.
The funding will be used to improve classrooms, provide modern furniture, ensure clean drinking water, upgrade sanitation facilities, and establish advanced AI, IT, and science laboratories.

To further improve student welfare, the Punjab government plans to expand the Green Electric Bus Service to additional areas, providing students with a safer, more reliable, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
The expansion is expected to make daily commuting easier while encouraging the use of sustainable public transport. Better transportation facilities can also help improve school attendance by reducing travel-related difficulties faced by students.
Together with the electric bike initiative, the project reflects a broader effort to make education more accessible through practical mobility solutions.

The combined initiatives including free electric bikes, laptops, scholarships, improved schools, and expanded transport services represent one of the province's largest investments in student development and educational advancement.
By reducing financial and transportation barriers while upgrading educational facilities, the government aims to create greater opportunities for students to succeed both academically and professionally.
These measures reinforce Punjab's commitment to empowering young people through quality education, modern infrastructure, and initiatives designed to support their future growth and success.
