Maryam Nawaz Announces Murree Glass Train Project
The Murree Glass Train project is a proposed tourism transport system intended to connect key routes between Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Murree.
The project aims to provide visitors with a more comfortable and visually engaging travel experience through the scenic hills while helping reduce traffic congestion during peak tourist seasons.
Officials have described it as part of efforts to modernize tourism infrastructure and improve visitor mobility in the region.
However, national literacy data still shows a clear gap between urban and rural regions.
The Murree Glass Train project is designed as a modern sightseeing transport experience that would allow passengers to travel through the scenic mountain landscape while enjoying panoramic views through specially designed glass compartments.
The proposed train aims to combine tourism and transportation by offering a safer, smoother, and more attractive alternative for travelers visiting Murree.
The initiative is expected to introduce a unique travel attraction in Pakistan, Encouraging more family tourism and creating a memorable experience for visitors.
The Murree Glass Train is part of a broader tourism development strategy that includes multiple infrastructure and recreational projects across the region.
These planned initiatives reportedly include new parks, chairlifts, glamping sites, eco-tourism zones, and a glass bridge project in Kotli Sattian aimed at enhancing visitor experiences.
Together, these developments are intended to modernize tourism infrastructure, improve facilities,
and increase the region’s appeal to domestic and international tourists.
Murree is one of Pakistan’s most visited hill stations, attracting millions of tourists annually, especially during summer and winter seasons.
Improved transportation systems and modern tourism infrastructure are expected to benefit local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, transport operators, and small vendors.
The government views such initiatives as a way to strengthen domestic tourism while creating employment opportunities for surrounding communities.
Ayla Majid made history in 2024 as the first South Asian woman to serve as president of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), marking a major milestone in global finance leadership.
Her achievement highlights the increasing participation of Pakistani women in international professional organizations, especially in accounting, finance, and corporate governance roles.
Such milestones reflect a broader trend of women breaking barriers and taking leadership positions
in global professional and business environments.
