A group of young singers from Lahore has attracted widespread attention online after a video of their musical performance struck a chord with audiences in India and beyond. The children performed the Punjabi song Alfaaz while Norwegian artist William Gamborg sat among them, visibly enjoying their singing.
The clip reportedly accumulated around 90 million views and more than nine million likes on Instagram within two days, making it a major social media hit. The children's expressive singing and coordinated performance helped the video reach audiences far beyond Pakistan.
The viral performance prompted an enthusiastic response from Indian social media users, many of whom praised the children's voices and their natural command of music. Comments celebrated their talent, with some viewers expressing admiration for Pakistan's musical traditions and the quality of the performance.
Several users highlighted the children's expressions and the happiness they displayed while singing together. Others described the young performers as stars, while one comment suggested that the performance was so impressive it could almost be mistaken for artificial intelligence.
The attention has also brought recognition to the academy nurturing the children's abilities. Norwegian artist William Gamborg shared the video in collaboration with Surtaal Music Academy and expressed how memorable the experience had been. Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh also reacted to one of the academy's videos with heart-hand emojis.
For the children, the widespread response offers an opportunity to have their talent recognised by a much larger audience. Their performance has also drawn attention to the importance of music education and platforms that help young people develop their skills.
