Pakistan International Airlines is preparing to introduce a fresh look for its cabin crew, with celebrated designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, widely known as HSY, selected to create the new uniforms. The collection is scheduled to enter service on October 31, 2026, aboard the airline’s inaugural London-to-Islamabad flight operated by its newly acquired Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The new designs aim to combine a contemporary appearance with elements inspired by Pakistan’s cultural identity. Rather than focusing on style alone, the collection has been developed for the practical demands of cabin service, with breathable materials, structured tailoring and construction intended to withstand long-haul operations.

The final selection followed a showcase in Karachi, where 10 prominent Pakistani designers presented uniform concepts for consideration. The participants included Maheen Khan, Deepak and Fahad, Generation, Ismail Farid, Munib Nawaz, Deepak Perwani, Faraz Manan, Amir Adnan and Nomi Ansari, whose designs had been used by PIA for the previous 12 years.
A five-member jury assessed the submissions, bringing together expertise from fashion, beauty, education and aviation. The panel included Khaadi founder Shamoon Sultan, couturier Nilofer Shahid, beauty expert Nabila, Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design Vice-Chancellor Hina Tayyaba Khalil and experienced PIA professional Naseem Tehrani.

PIA has a long history of collaborating with internationally recognised designers. In 1966, French fashion designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s distinctive A-line tunic and hood. British designer Sir Hardy Amies, known for dressing Queen Elizabeth II, also contributed to its uniform legacy during the 1970s. HSY’s appointment continues that association between aviation and fashion.
For HSY, designing for the national airline represents an opportunity to communicate Pakistani hospitality and cultural identity to international travellers. The collection seeks to give crew members clothing that supports confidence and comfort while maintaining a polished appearance.
