Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has acknowledged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for initiatives aimed at improving cricket in the country. His remarks highlight the importance of developing the sport through better management, stronger facilities and sustained investment in players.
Amir has previously spoken positively about the PCB’s support for cricketers. In April 2024, he also recognised the board’s role in facilitating his return to international cricket after an absence of nearly four years. His latest comments come amid continuing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s cricketing structure and create better opportunities for players.
Under Naqvi’s leadership, the PCB has pursued administrative changes, including adjustments to the selection committee, alongside consultations with former cricketers on ways to improve domestic cricket. These discussions reflect the need to strengthen the pathway from grassroots and domestic competitions to the national team.
The board has also outlined measures to support emerging talent through improved training facilities and development programmes. According to recent reporting, initiatives include attention to young players’ nutrition, rehabilitation and preparation, as well as training opportunities for different age groups.
While administrative reforms and investment can create better conditions for players, their long-term impact will depend on how effectively these measures translate into results. Pakistan cricket continues to face scrutiny over team performances, selection decisions and the planning required to build a more consistent national side.
The challenge for the PCB is to ensure that improvements extend beyond individual projects and become part of a sustainable development system. Stronger domestic competitions, effective talent development and informed selection decisions can all contribute to that objective.
