Netflix Reveals First Trailer For Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
Netflix has released the first trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, offering a glimpse into the magical world before the events familiar to audiences from earlier Narnia films. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the fantasy adventure explores how the enchanted land first came into existence.
The story follows Digory and Polly, played by newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell. Their discovery of magical rings takes them beyond the ordinary world and into unfamiliar realms, setting off a journey filled with wonder and danger.
The trailer also introduces characters central to the wider Narnia mythology. Emma Mackey plays Jadis, the character who becomes the White Witch, while Meryl Streep lends her voice to Aslan, the majestic lion associated with Narnia’s creation.
Carey Mulligan and Ciarán Hinds are also part of the cast, alongside several other performers. The film marks the first screen adaptation of C.S. Lewis’s 1955 novel The Magician’s Nephew, which traces the beginnings of the fantasy world.
Rather than simply revisiting the earlier films, the new production takes the story back to its roots.
Gerwig, known for directing Barbie and Little Women, is taking on one of the best-known fantasy worlds in children’s literature. The trailer pairs sweeping imagery with a sense of discovery, signalling a new cinematic interpretation of Lewis’s work.
The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on February 12, 2027, with special IMAX previews beginning February 10. It will then arrive on Netflix on April 2, giving audiences two ways to experience the adventure.
