Pakistani women’s tennis is set for an important milestone as Islamabad prepares to host a $15,000 Women’s Futures tournament from October 12 to 17, 2026. Supported by the Cleveland-based Junaid Family Foundation (JFF) and organised in partnership with the Pakistan Tennis Federation, the competition will bring international attention to women’s tennis in Pakistan.
Around 40 international players are expected to compete alongside emerging Pakistani talent, giving local athletes the opportunity to test themselves against players from different countries. Competing in an international field can provide valuable match experience and help players understand the demands of professional tennis.
For Pakistani women pursuing tennis professionally, access to international competition is an important step in career development. Playing against overseas opponents allows athletes to gain experience, build confidence and measure their progress against a wider field of competitors.
Hosting tournaments locally can also reduce some of the logistical and financial challenges associated with travelling abroad to compete. International events in Pakistan may give more players the chance to gain exposure to competitive tennis without having to travel as far from home.
The Islamabad tournament is part of a broader period of activity for women’s tennis in the country.
The Junaid Family Foundation’s involvement in Islamabad reflects its wider use of sport to support women's participation, inclusion and community engagement. Chairman Ansir Junaid has said the foundation views investment in women's health as extending beyond clinical care to include opportunities that promote wellbeing and visibility.
In the United States, JFF has supported Squash in the Land, a professional squash tournament in Cleveland featuring men's and women's competitions. It also sponsored the Four Nations Polo Cup in Virginia in 2026, where Pakistan emerged victorious, and served as a presenting sponsor of the 2024 Pan American Masters Games in Cleveland.
