Apple Names Salman Dar To Lead Government Affairs In Pakistan
Apple has now created a dedicated government affairs position for Pakistan, with technology executive Salman Dar taking charge of the role. It gives the company a specific senior representative for dealing with Pakistan’s public sector and regulatory environment.
Dar confirmed that he has joined Apple as Head of Government Affairs – Pakistan, where his work will involve engaging with government institutions, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders.
Dar brings a long background in Pakistan’s technology sector to the position. He has spent more than three decades working across IT, entrepreneurship and business development, with experience spanning Pakistan and international markets.
Before joining Apple, he was involved with the Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA) and worked on policy and regulatory matters affecting the technology industry. He has also held leadership responsibilities in the private sector.
That experience places him in a role where understanding both the technology industry and government policy is central.
The appointment comes amid broader efforts by Pakistani authorities to bring Apple deeper into the country’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
Government officials have discussed attracting the company to local device manufacturing and assembly, while efforts are also underway to improve the regulatory environment for international technology investment.
Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said government engagement with Apple had continued for around two years and welcomed Dar’s appointment as an opportunity for stronger communication.
